Measures to take to protect computer
Every user wants to protect their computer against viruses. Our main aim is to ensure security of our data. If you want your computer to function correctly and grateful you should not only be aware of the main measures but also put them into practice to protect your computer against viruses and malware.
Here are these measures:
1. Up-to-date antivirus and its regular updates.
2. Regular scan of portable data media for viruses before running them.
3. Checking archived files transferred from other computers immediately after their decompressing. In this case you should scan only these new files.
4. Regular hard disk scan. To do that you are to run your anti-virus program from a write-protected portable data carrier to test system disks.
5. Portable carrier write-protection. If you are working with disks or memory sticks on somebody else's computer always make sure they are write-protected beforehand.
6. Never leave portable data media in computer in the process of its turning on or rebooting to prevent infecting.
7. Disk inspector. To ensure higher security level of your anti-virus software use a disk inspector. It scans computer hard disk and creates a database covering all system files. In case any change in the files occur in the process of next scanning the inspector alerts about a possible virus. Also it can launch scanning to check changed files in detail.
8. Backing up of important files.
9. Storing computer passwords and addresses in the address book. In this case you will always be able to recover them if your computer is infected or data is lost.
10. Creating emergency disk set for emergency recovery.
11. Storing setup disks for each program installed on your computer.
12. Don't forget to regularly make the current image of your hard disk.
