In order to cure your computer from a virus first you should find out if it is really infected. There are some symptoms showing that your computer has and detecting worms, Trojan horses and viruses in your email.
Symptoms of infected computer
- Your computer is working more slowly than it used to.
- Your computer starts blocking itself.
- Some computer failures occur and it is rebooting very often.
- Applications installed on computer don't work correctly.
- You can't get access to the network disks.
- Documents are printed incorrectly.
- Error notifications appear all the time
- Dialog windows are distorted
- Antivirus gets disabled all the time and it is difficult to run it again.
- New unknown icons and shortcuts appear on the Desktop
- Some applications remove themselves.
Attention! All these factors mentioned above are the most common symptoms of computer virus infecting. However, they may be caused not only by viruses but also by some faulty equipment or crippled software. That's why first of all you should launch any software to remove malware and then install the most recent version of reliable anti-virus software.
Signs of worms, Trojans and viruses in your email
Your emails may contain malicious programs as well.
In order not to become their victims you should know the signs of their presence in email messages:
- File replicates itself. At the same time there is no free disk space left.
- File copies are sent to all addressees in the list.
- Virus can format the hard disk. As a result programs and files are removed.
- Virus installs hidden applications. Then they can spread to other computers.
- Virus lowers security level. It allows hackers to get remote access to your computer.
- You receive messages with strange attachments. When you open them the computer performance significantly decreases.
- People you don't know receive emails from you. These messages contain attached files with VBS, BAT, EXE and SCR extensions.
How to get protected?
It goes without saying there is also risk of your computer being infected and you can't ensure 100 percent protection. However, if you keep to the following simple rules you'll significantly improve your computer protection and decrease the risk of virus infection:
1. Update your operating system in time
2. Use the most recent versions of anti-virus software
3. Enable Firewall
4. Always update your software protecting against spy applications.
